Typical maintenance doses of hydrocortisone for CAH are mg/m2/day and for other causes of adrenal insufficiency are 8-10 mg/m2/day. Children with adrenal insufficiency or at risk of adrenal suppression are frequently admitted to hospital for routine and complex surgical procedures. In clinical trials in adults, the addition of formoterol to beclometasone dipropionate improved asthma symptoms and lung function and reduced exacerbations. In a 12-week study in adolescent asthma patients, the safety profile of Fostair was not different to that of beclometasone dipropionate monotherapy. Concomitant treatment with xanthine derivatives, steroids, or diuretics may potentiate a possible hypokalaemic effect of beta2-agonists (see section 4.4.). Hypokalaemia may increase the disposition towards arrhythmias in patients who are treated with digitalis glycosides. On the other hand, concomitant use of other beta-adrenergic drugs can have potentially additive effects, therefore caution is required when theophylline or other beta-adrenerigic drugs are prescribed concomitantly with formoterol.

It’s important to seek medical advice before stopping or making any changes to your medication. Usually, you need to stop taking them gradually in order to reduce the risk of adrenal crisis, which can be serious.
EC tablets are 1.5x the price of plain tablets without any substantial evidence that they confer any GI benefits and in some cases have worsened disease control.
